About
Kwangho Kim is an Associate Professor at Korea University, jointly appointed in the Department of Statistics, the Department of Data Science, and the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Data Science.
His research concerns quantities that decisions depend on but that were never observed: what would follow from an action not taken, or from a policy applied to a different population. He develops statistical and machine-learning methods for estimating them reliably.
Before joining Korea University in 2023, he was the Marshall J. Seidman Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School, where he worked with José R. Zubizarreta. He earned a joint Ph.D. in Statistics and Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University under the supervision of Edward H. Kennedy and Larry A. Wasserman. He also collaborated with Alessandro Rinaldo and Frédéric Chazal during his PhD. His experience as a quantitative researcher across diverse industries continues to shape the methodological questions he pursues.
